Upon entering and sustaining my marriage my hope and expectation is that I will never have to go through the process of getting a divorce. However, if it is absolutely unavoidable, I want to be prepared to navigate the process successfully and healthily. If I have children when going through a divorce then my number one goal will be to make them my top priority. I would want to make sure that they will have all their needs met, to keep them as far from the conflict between me and my spouse as possible, and for them to know that they are loved and cherished. Legallly, my first step would be to get an excellent attorney who will be able to guide me steadily through the process. Financially, I would want to immediately begin creating a finical plan for my new life as a single women. Emotionally, I would seek counseling for myself and my children (if I have children). I would also choose 2-3 family members or friends that I could really lean on and confide in to support me throughout the divorce.
