Although I believe that the time for me to have children is far into the future, being a mother is definitely one of the desires of my heart. With that said, being a parent is an enormous responsibility that has many challenges. Before having children, my goal is to make sure that my husband and I sit down and discuss the idea of having children and wether or not we are financially, emotionally, and mentally stable enough to do so. Upon deciding to have children, I would like to start saving for them right away so that they can have a comfortable life and so that they are able to get an education in order to pursue their dreams and passions. As my children grow up I want to be able to pass on to them knowledge of how to manage their money so that they will be prepared to successfully and responcibly manage their money in the future.
Goals:
1. Discuss with my husband if we are ready to have children
2. Discuss with my employer maternity leave options
3. Call my benefits department for information about child care reimbursement and tax credits available to us after our babies come
4. Teach my children the finical knowledge that I have learned and show them how to be frugal with their money
5. Start a college fund for children
6. Start a savings fund for children
7. Set up an allowance for my children and teach them how to be financially responcible
8. Prioritize giving and teach them the importance of helping others
9. Help my children find their passions
10. Foster a home environment of trust, integrity, honesty, fun, and love
